The Best of Gaming in 2019

Ahoy Captain Cats here and today is our second part of our best and worst of gaming in 2019. Last week we focused on the worst so this week we are looking at the best.

Indie Games were the Unsung Heroes of 2019
While the mainstream gaming took a lot of hits this year with how games were being released unfinished, buggy or just one big pile of a mess (WWE2K19), and who came to save the day yet again, that’s right indie games. My Friend Pedro, Katana Zero, Blasphemous, Baba is you, Wargroove, Indivisible, Gato Roboto, Blazing Chrome, Cadence of Hyrule, River City Girls and the runaway hit of the year Untitled Goose Game were the brightest spots of 2019.

The Rise of SNK
With the release of Samurai Shodown, having Terry Bogard in Smash Bro, and the release of the NeoGeo arcade stick pro, it looks like we are seeing a rebirth in one of the most beloved companies from the ’90s. Let us see if they can keep this going in 2020 with more game releases and maybe a home console release?

Cyberpunk 2077 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Release Dates
Two of the biggest announcements that came out of 2019 were the release dates for Cyberpunk 2077 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Cyberpunk 2077 release date was shown at this year’s E3 with another huge announcement that Keanu Reeves will be a part of this game as Johnny Sliverhand. Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on April 16, 2020. Final Fantasy 7 Remake is a full remake of the original game that was released back in 1997 on the PlayStation 1. The remake is the first part of a series of releases for Final Fantasy 7 Remake due to the scale of the game and SquareEnix doesn’t want to leave anything out. Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be released on March 3, 2020.

2020 Will Be a Hell of a Year for Gamers
This year alone there were so many announcements, but for 2020 release. If you want a small sample of what is coming in 2020 here it is:

Granblue Fantasy Versus
Yakuza 5
Nioh 2
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Half-Life: Alyx
The Last of Us Part 2
Phantasy Star Online 2
System Shock

Most of these games will be out in just the first five months in 2020, so get ready to make your bank account cry.
