Ahoy me mateys Captain Cats here. 2018 was an excellent year for cartoons. A lot of new series came to life while we say good bye to fan favorites and one series made us remember why its the best out there. Here is our 2018 cartoon review.
Saying goodbye to a lot of great series – Adventure Time, Netflix’s Voltron and Trollhunters, Clarence, star wars rebels and Justice League Action all say goodbye this year. With rumors that 2019 Steven Universe and The Amazing World of Gumball may say goodbye as well.
Out with the Old and in with the New – Craig of the Creek, Cupcake &Dino: General Services, Kitty is Not a Cat, Hilda and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power came in and made this year even great. Craig of the Creek might be the show Cartoon Network needs with Adventure Time ended this year. Hilda is this year’s Hidden Gem series.
Bojack Horseman outdid itself – Netflix’s Bojack Horseman was THE SHOW of 2018 and made many other shows look like a joke. Season 5 took the show to an even darker places and with an ending so open-ended we can’t wait for season 6. Will Arnett should get a Golden Globe Nod for the episode “Free Churro.”
Netflix had a lot to offer this year – F is for Family, Super Drags, Bojack Horseman, Hilda, Harvey Street Kids, She-Ra and so many more new cartoons, both for kids and adult have been on Netflix, and many of them will be back for 2019. It’s safe to say that Netflix has a good ideal on what they are looking for in cartoons for either or audiences.
Shows that came back with a bang – The Venture Brothers, South Park, Harvey Birdman Special, Archer, The Simpsons, and Bob’s Burger came back this year and did it with a bang. It was great the see them again and begs the question, will South Park and The Simpsons call it an end of an era in 2019?
That is our review for 2018 on cartoons.
