Today on hidden gem with Halloween a few weeks away now would be a good time to talk about one of the best horror game soundtracks and that is Silent Hill.

The game soundtrack is was created by sound director Akira Yamaoka who previously work on games such as Contra: Hard Corps, Snatcher, International Superstar Soccer Pro and Poy Poy 2. He requested to join Team Silent development team after the original music team left the project. Unlike his other works, the music for Silent Hill was like nothing like has ever been heard before in the world of gaming. Part melodic, part industrial and all horror this soundtrack was bold yet powerful at the same time.

The one thing that fans of the series will tell you when listening to the soundtrack that always gives them chills down there spine is the first few seconds of the opening main track with the mandolin playing. Those few seconds are beautiful yet haunting at the same time then comes the music that sounds like something like Angelo Badalamenti would have made if he was asked to create a video game soundtrack.

The soundtrack had so many different sounds and haunting tones such as:

Until Death
Claw Finger
Killed By Death
Never Again
Down Time

This is a great soundtrack to use if your doing anything spooky or wanting to scare the living daylights out of your friends you can’t go wrong with this one.
