Ahoy me mateys Captain Cats here. What a year for gaming in 2018. This year has shown us tons of new IP’s, long overdue sequels, trailer announcements that no one saw going and a great reminder why you shouldn’t be a trend setter and not back it up. Here are some of the biggest things that happen in 2018.

The Dragon Ball Z game we genuinely deserved – Dragon Ball Fighter Z released in January of 2018, and it lived up to the HYPE that it created. This was the DBZ game fans was asking for so long — one of the Best Fighting game of 2018 hands down.

The Return of the Single Player Game – God of War, Spider-Man, Red Dead Redemption 2, South Park: The Fractured but Whole and so many more of the single player games shine this year. It goes to show if a company takes their time to create a great single player game, people will go and buy it.

The Announcements that no one saw coming – Every year we have a few announcements that shake the gaming world for better and for worse. This year we had a lot of both, here are some from both sides:

Good Announcements

  • Mortal Kombat 11, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Animal Crossing, Cross-Play for all three home console and PC, Psychonauts 2, Death Stranding, DOOM Eternal.

Bad Announcements

  • Diablo Immortal, Telltale Games shut down, Prima Games shut down, EA still hasn’t learned from their mistakes.

CYBERPUNK 2077 – No one saw this coming at all. With the official trailer at this years E3, and later we saw an hours worth of gameplay, CD Project RED has already WON Game of the Year Awards when this game comes out.

That was 2018 in a nutshell for gaming; let us hope 2019 can improve on this and PLEASE take your time CD Project RED, no rush.
